Annaliese Hordern, Jane Little and Eleanor Young are joining forces to present this Practical Permaculture 4 week immersive where we share essential skills to getting started, or getting better, along your permaculture journey. Connect and learn alongside fellow like-minded students to build on some important skills for the future in this fun series of classes with some amazing permaculture teachers set amongst the rich learning environment of the Yandina Permaculture Gardens. Part Theory and Part Boots and Hat Immersion!
Week 1 Monday 7th March 2022 9:00am to 12:00pm
Permaculture Gardening: Exploring edges, Basic principles, Design considerations for the Blue House gardens. Together we will demonstrate and construct some bamboo trellises for use in the Zone 1 garden, then share tea and ideas.
Week 2 Monday 14th March 9:00am to 12:00pm
Soils, Worms, Composting, Easy Soil Enrichment and What to do with Weeds. We take a good look at a Food Waste Loop and discuss how to improve or begin these valuable processes at home. Shared fresh garden tea. Tips and tricks in abundance. Please bring gardening gloves.
Week 3 Monday 21st March 9:00am to 12:00pm
Seed Saving, Seed Raising, Propagation, Raising Robust Plants. We discuss and explore how to set up a basic nursery in any situation. Secateur sharpening demonstration. Plenty of sub tropical edibles to take home potted up and seeds to share. See photos of our home set ups, show us yours? Fresh tea with the class and ideas exchange.
Week 4 Monday 28th March 9:00am to 12:00pm
Permaculture Plants – deep dive into the best of sub-tropical edibles and how to make them delicious. We cover plant identification, benefits, harvesting, and storage followed by a shared lunch cooked up together with the permaculture plants we have been getting to know. Rounding out a very productive month of Permaculture with a lovely shared meal, and more tea. Find your niche in the guild! Put new tools in your gardening tool belt and get into it!
4 x 3hr classes = $200
The numbers are capped for these sessions and so BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL. Bookings are for the 4 week course. Casual on the day tickets will be sold separately if space is available at $60 per session. What to Bring:Boots, hat, water bottle, gardening gloves and a mug for tea. There will be some tools available for our immersive sessions or you can bring labeled hand tools in a labeled bucket if you wish.
Presenter’s Biographies:
Annaliese Hordern is the director of the Change Makers Permaculture Design Course, she has 4 yrs experience with Green Harvest Organic Gardening & runs a 1 acre Permaculture property, growing 108 edible plants.
Jane Little is a Permaculture Designer, a Kitchen Garden Specialist and Supreme Commander of the Vegie Patch Consultancy. She practices permaculture on a daily basis. Jane has been the Garden Coordinator and Workshop Coordinator for Yandina Community Gardens.
Eleanor Young is a grass roots, holistic, hands-on educator who has developed her own approach to Permaculture through cultivating a pragmatic and deeply embodied relationship with the interconnected cycles of nature.
