Food Waste Loop divert food ‘waste’ from Yandina’s cafes, restaurants, grocery stores, and coffee roasteries and turns it into a valuable nutrient-rich compost resource.
Food waste should be regenerating soils around the country. The time is now to use our waste efficiently and get composting!
So far….
– 23 tonnes of food waste has been diverted from Yandina businesses.
– Over 10,000 litres of compost was used to revitalise the soil and grow more food.
– Food Waste Loop has educated over 100 people in waste separation strategies and benefits of compost.
– Our township has prevented 43,700kg of C02-e emissions being released into our atmosphere.
– 100% of the participating businesses value that their food waste is being repurposed.
Food Waste Loop demonstrates that a community garden can play an integral role in educating and mobilising a community to reduce food waste in landfill and create a more secure localised food system.
