Job Description – Food Waste Loop Compost Assistant

We have an opportunity to join our Food Waste Loop team for 3 months, diverting food waste
from landfill. Are you a willing worker who doesn’t shy away from a little hard work? Are you able to work autonomously and are self-motivated? Do you want to make a positive difference in your community?

Then here’s an exciting opportunity for you to join our Food Waste Loop team! The Yandina
Community Gardens (YCG) is looking for an energetic and motivated person to help carry out
the manual labour tasks and lead our volunteers through this experience. You will be
responsible for collecting the food waste from the township, and required to process it through our composting systems at the community gardens. You will work with YCG’s management committee, Food Waste Loop team and volunteers. The role will be up to 10hrs per week for 3 months.

Requirements:
•Ability to perform physical work
•Reliable and self-motivated
•Interest in environmental sustainability
•Interest and/ or experience in composting and worm farming
•Experience working with volunteers/ working for a volunteer-run organisation
•Good communication skills
•Ability to record data accurately
•Must have your own vehicle and willing to collect many buckets of waste. Not recommended for nice clean cars.
•Must be available Tuesday/ Fridays.
•Must have an ABN or willing to apply for one.

This program follows all health directives given by the State and Federal Governments.

Remuneration:
$30/hr + 0.72c/km.
