Members Get Together To Celebrate The Gardens And Connect

21/05/2018 By

YCG had its first member event for the year on 12 May 2018. These events are an opportunity for like-minded people to get together, connect with each other and celebrate the Gardens. It also gives the members an opportunity to hear from our president, Colleen Bichel, on what is planned for the rest of the year. At the event we fired up the pizza oven, enjoyed talking to each other whilst we put together our own pizza creations, all the while listening to beautiful music in the background. Ideas were shared and we introduced the members to the topic of Syntropic Farming. A fun quiz on the Gardens saw much laughter with members young and old running around the Gardens trying to find the answers. The winners were treated to some great prizes.

Thank you to all the members who support the Gardens and took the time to share their ideas with the management committee.

Congratulations to Kim and Brett Brown who won the ticket to the CelebrATE festival. Here is what Kim had to say:
Yes!! Master Banjo (my son) and I went to CelebrATE together and we had an absolute ball.  Learning, singing, dancing, camping and sharing with like minded people – does it get any better than that?  Highlights were the farm tour with Tom Kendall, the Food Forrest walk, talk with Geoff Lawton and the music.  A surprise for me was learning about biogas, making gas for the kitchen from manure and greens – very interesting.  Banjo’s favourite was The Food Forrest walk with Geoff and the chicken workshop with Amanda Moore.  We highly recommend attending CelebrATE next year and getting some great information specific to our bioregion from people well established in the area.
Many thanks to Tom and Zaia for donating the ticket, we are very grateful to have won the ticket through YCG, without the windfall we would not have been able to attend.

Easy Sweet Leaf Stew

21/05/2018 By

Boil up Sweet Leaf leaves and tips with some onion and casava in coconut water. Take off the boil and add coconut cream, chilli and soy sauce to taste.

Delicious! Couldn’t be more simple. I have lived on this dish. The smell of sweet leaf cooking is a savory delight.
